Still snow...

Yep, yep, yep.
Winter is here!

Seems there's no justice in weather. We had spring around the corner last week with springflowers about to bloom. As usual there's a storm to turn everything around again.
Here's a pic of my balcony with my cat "Mai", slightly discomforted out in the snow.

I guess now I'll have to wait quite a while before I can put my seedlings out there :(

My new popup plugbox!

Today I also finally got my plugbox (yay) from Nelson. Pics to the right here to show it's dimensions in metrics ;)
It's a great design for easy growing and migration of seedling as they are just popped out and put into their new medium.

Next in line is a new order from Jukka at Fatalii.net

Attempted self-watering pot

I found a cheap 10L bucket (actually 13L) and pot in plastic to make a self-watering capillary system aswell. Apart from eventual sunshine growing algae in this bucket I think the volume of water might be good (4-5liters?) which I will measure later. Now I just need to find a tube that fits and then I'm good to go.
I'll have a look at some other places too tho for similar solutions. Looking for actual pots in plastic or whatever material seems very expensive and compared to this pot and bucket (~1€ each) anything is expensive.

New order soon

I've been communicating with the author of Fatalii.net the last days and I'm going to make a nice order from his seeds section. Jukka is a great guy to talk to and provides much help and answers.

I'm sure I will get great seeds once I order :)
More info soon ;)

New minigreenhouse

I found this new product from Lord Nelson called a Plugbox pop-up system used in professional greenhouses. It uses a capillary selfwatering system for optimal results. Once the seedlings/cutlings are strong enough all you have to do is movie them into a new pot and new soil.Posted by Picasa

Day 8, 21 seedlings have breached...

21 seedlings have breached the soil now and I guess most other are just under the ground preparing to burst out. Another 24 to go. Soon other projects are go for start aswell as spring is crawling it's way over here. I repotted a large Terragon (Anethum graveolens) and an even larger Thyme (Tymus vulgaris) aswell today to bathe in the kitchen's sunny south-western window (Pics to to come).

Day 7, clearly starting to grow...

Day 7, clearly starting to grow and the seeds are all starting to show up, and fast. I am now awaiting all the seeds to break surface and grow to the greenhouse top for repotting :)

Day 5, a sprout breached the surface...

Day 5, a sprout breached the surface. Finally a sign of life. The rest of the seeds are probably close to breach aswell.
I try to maintain the soil and greenhouse temperature between about 20C and 35C (86-95F).

Day 1, Birth of blog - birth of chilis...

Day 1, Birth of blog - birth of chilis.

I'll start this blog in conjunction with my batch of capsicum seeds (chilifruit). Since I have nothing to write about at the moment, the chilis will be my maintarget of blogging.

I got about 45 seeds of various types of chilis to plant for this year.

Potting and planting of all the seeds in a miniature greenhouse for the germination phase aswell as finding a good spot for light and stable radiator heating.
