Short Yellow Tabasco #2

Germination!
It has begun. On the 6th day I saw this little baby pulling through.
It is a great feeling to see life beginning here and I can now start dreaming of large crops and tasty chili stews and sadwiches *drool*

update :)

My first batch of assorted "carribean chilis" is growing very well and the second and third leafpairs are starting to show on every plant. Sizes are varying from about 4-7cm and the first leafpairs are getting quite large :)

I got my second batch planted the 26th of February in my plugbox so finally the season is really beginning.

I also found a new item that might be the solution to my project with the self-watering pots. It's an "onionbasket" that will serve as the layer between soil and watertank

Still snow...

Yep, yep, yep.
Winter is here!

Seems there's no justice in weather. We had spring around the corner last week with springflowers about to bloom. As usual there's a storm to turn everything around again.
Here's a pic of my balcony with my cat "Mai", slightly discomforted out in the snow.

I guess now I'll have to wait quite a while before I can put my seedlings out there :(

My new popup plugbox!

Today I also finally got my plugbox (yay) from Nelson. Pics to the right here to show it's dimensions in metrics ;)
It's a great design for easy growing and migration of seedling as they are just popped out and put into their new medium.

Next in line is a new order from Jukka at Fatalii.net

Attempted self-watering pot

I found a cheap 10L bucket (actually 13L) and pot in plastic to make a self-watering capillary system aswell. Apart from eventual sunshine growing algae in this bucket I think the volume of water might be good (4-5liters?) which I will measure later. Now I just need to find a tube that fits and then I'm good to go.
I'll have a look at some other places too tho for similar solutions. Looking for actual pots in plastic or whatever material seems very expensive and compared to this pot and bucket (~1€ each) anything is expensive.

New order soon

I've been communicating with the author of Fatalii.net the last days and I'm going to make a nice order from his seeds section. Jukka is a great guy to talk to and provides much help and answers.

I'm sure I will get great seeds once I order :)
More info soon ;)
